The Diocesan Mission Statement

Commitment to Christ's Ministry
To save all people as Christ has commanded, the parishes of St. Catharines Diocese commit themselves to:

1) proclaiming the Word of God 2) bearing Witness to the Spirit's gifts of faith, hope and love 3) Worship God the Father publicly in Christ, through the Spirit.

Commitment To Christ's Mission
Ministry within St. Catharines Diocese is exercised for the sake of Jesus' Mission of bringing the Kingdom of God to all people: "The time is fulfilled and the Kingdom of God has come near; repent and believe in the good news." (Mark 1:14)<

Three Priorities For The Year 2000
Aware of Pope John Paul II's call to ready our community for the arrival of the Third Millennium, the prayerful deliberations of this Diocesan Congress from September 1994 to January 1995, have lead us to identify three priorities within the Mission of the Church that the collaborative services of ordained and lay ministers should address during the next five years:

1) Youth Ministry 2) Ministry to inactive parishioners 3) Ministry to the marginalised

Adult Faith Formation Needed To Carry Out Priorities
The parishes of St. Catharines Diocese also commit themselves to a renewed emphasis on Adult Faith Formation for the personal enrichment of the Faithful and as a requirement for Ministry.

Promulgated by the Most Rev. John A. O'Mara Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria April 11, 1995
